No, this was provided by Macromedia support team as a part of the Support contract my previous employer had with Adobe (Macromedia at the time).

It turned out that the JVM used by JRun for JRun's processes was running out of threads. The was hard to pin point because you are not able to detect the percetage of memory used by the JRun processes from what is actually used by your CF code. We had Macromedia support at the time and they provided a Java tool that allowed us to see how many MBs were used by the JRun processes. Then we could see the memory used by the JRun processes was at peak when the server was crashing while the total memory utilized by JRun (in the windows task manager was about 70 % of the memory allocated to the JVM Max Heap). Try increasing the MaxPermSize (this is the memory utilized by the JRun's for its internal processes). In Windows the -Xmx + MaxPermSize could be 1.7 GB per Macromedia/Adobe support but I have seen it working with a max of only 1.5 GB. Go to your jvm.config file. It is in the c:\JRun4\bin\ directory (for Multi Instance install). For single instance it is under c:\cfusionmx7\bin (I am not sure about the location in the single instance but you can search the cfusionmx7 directory for the file jvm.config). Change the "MaxPermSize=128m" in the java.args line to "MaxPermSize=256m" as below # Arguments to VM java.args=-Xmx1024M -server -Dsun.io.useCanonCaches=false-XX:MaxPermSize=256m..... This setting could be changed from the ColdFusion Admin as well. This change requires a server restart. If your server crashes often then you can make the change and let it crash and when you bring it back up the setting should take effect.
