Caching systems like Amazon S3 and Akamai services are really cool to look into for very busy sites that don't need immediate reflection.

There are also incredibly flexible (ie: you could cache just images, js, etc., video whatever).

Amazon also has some other interesting services such as the mechanical turk and cloud computing.
