Sophek, It is no secret that I am somewhat biased toward Mach-II, so take my opinion for what it is worth. I have now been using Mach-II for 2 years and honestly cannot imagine having to write applications of even the slightest complexity without it. I like the framework so much and speak about it so much that they decided I should be on the team. :) I find that it makes even the most simple applications so much more pleasant to work with, helps you develop you applications with consistent coding patterns, and makes working in a team environment so much more consistent. Aaron Lynch and I use it for every project that we run, and still to this day, we frequently mention about how "such-and-such" sure would be more difficult if we weren't using Mach-II!
Any of the frameworks you mentioned are solid choices and you can't really make a "wrong" choice. They are all actively developed projects that put out regular version releases, they all employ solid approaches to the MVC pattern, and many robust applications have been written with each of them. A well thought out application with a clear data model, services and views could in theory be swapped relatively easy in and out of any of the frameworks, as Sean Corfield publicly experimented with a couple years ago on his blog. That said, I personally recommend Mach-II. The framework is developed by a solid group of developers, who are constantly making well thought out decisions on the project and are very determined to make it the model project of the community. The Beta of 1.5 was just released, and there is some really exciting stuff in the works for version 2. Mach-II plays very nicely with other frameworks, such as ColdSpring, Transfer, Reactor, AjaxCFC, and Mach-II plugins have been created and are available for each of them, with the possible exception of Reactor. Another bonus is that there is a nice community of Mach-II developers here in DFW, due in large part to the evangelism by Matt Woodward while he was here in Dallas, so there is lots of local help available. Lastly, in my opinion, try not to feel the pressure to learn them all. The all effectively solve the same problem, so pick one and learn it well. If you understand the basic flow of an MVC application, it is pretty easy understand the other frameworks, so if you got called to do a [insert whatever framework] project, you could transfer your knowledge pretty easily. That is my two cents anyway. Hope it helps. On 7/20/07, Sophek Tounn <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:
Hi Dave, I'm looking to learn one of these framework, which one should I choose? Mach-II, fusebox or model-glue?
