Try putting your username as the starting directory. Sometimes that works for me (only seems to happen on IIS servers for some reason).

Ex:
ftp://blah.com/MKelp

Here's my situation:
I'm using CFEclipse, and trying to connect to my podcast's website via the miracle of FTP thru Eclipse. I can enter all the pertinent information (IP address, id, password) but I *always* get a java related error.
Am I missing something really simple along the way?

Try this:

right click anywhere in your workspace and choose 'Export...', the select 'Preferences'. This will allow you to export all preferences in the current workspace to a file. In the new workspace right click and choose 'Import...', then 'Preferences'. I know ftp server configs, fonts, colors, perspective layouts all work. I don't know about snippets.
