a few days ago I had asked a question regarding the Dynamic DNS client
feature of pfSense.
Looking at the official no-ip client shows that it blindly dials home
every 5 minutes, no matter if the interface IP has changed or not (which
makes sense for a device that is behind a router, since it has no direct
way of figuring out if the WAN IP changed).
Now, could anyone please tell me how the client built into pfSense 2.0.1
handles this? Will it only trigger on a changed WAN IP, or does it dial
home every 5 minutes, no matter what?
My pfSense boxes are stuck behind another router providing the WAN
connection, so they cannot detect a WAN IP change by themselves. So,
while the "update only when WAN IP changes" approach sure looks cleaner,
it wouldn't help me in my particular case.
