I believe after that you'll probably get your 'modem' - ugenX.Y I've used AT^U2DIAG=0 on an Huawei E1820 to achieve that and get the modem to work. It's a bit more costly though, costing like KES 9,999 Huawei E160 costs KES 2,000 and I have a feeling it will work. I'll try it today at some point and let you know.
