Hello all, I want to setup pfSense on an embedded board (fanless, low power consumption) with VPN, Snort and ntop enabled. It is for a home network with max internet feed 100Mbit/s and 2 VPN users.
So I am thinking to go with a net6501-50 (Soekris - 1 Ghz CPU, 1 Gbyte DDR2-SDRAM, 4 Gigabit Ethernet Ports) instead of Alix.2D13. I would like to ask if you think that I am going to have any performance issues having Snort enabled. Is there anyone with a similar setup? Do you suggest a different board maybe? Do you recommend a specific HDD for this setup? I have also read that SSD drives die quickly using Pfsense...does it make sense? Excuse me for all the questions and thank you in advance!
