Hi,
I'm still using a WRAP box for my pfSense at home. Should I change it? It
works OK, but I'm stuck at V 2.0.0 for now. Will 2.1 run on WRAP?
If you're using basic enough services to get by on a WRAP with 2.0.x,
2.1 isn't going to be different in that regard. My main concern with a
WRAP would be the slow CPU limiting throughput if your Internet
connection speed gets upgraded (IIRC a WRAP will do at best
20-something Mbps), or needing additional services that make 128 MB
RAM inadequate.
Oh, the hardware is OK. My bandwidth is 5/1 (because I don't want to
pay for more and it's enought for me) and I'm not a "power user" at
home. I only use it as a firewall, DHCP and DNS server. If needed, I
could stop DNS server, but I haven't seen a performance problem yet with
it. It hangs about every 5-6 months, but that is all.
According to the system, memory usage is about 75%. Free memory pretty
steady around 25% according to RRD graphs.
I'm more concerned about the fact that a workaround is needed to make
nanobsd work on a wrap. I'm currently using 2.0 image that I took here
http://zhaw.ch/~maym because I'm too lazy/don't have time to do the hack
myself to make it work.
Thanks,
Ugo
