Those are almost always a sign of a failing CF. Especially since the LBAs are so close together. When you upgraded, it wrote a lot of data to the CF onto the inactive slice, a part of the CF that hadn't been used in a while (if ever), so that may have triggered something. Reimaging the card would put you back to using the first portion of the CF so it may appear to work for a while after that, but maybe not for the reason you think. CF cards are so inexpensive it's almost not worth the trouble to put a potentially bad card back in service.
