One question to be asked is what kind (brand) of network cards are in use and how well are they supported under BSD?

I wanted to test the maximum throughput (in packets per second) of the firewall. There's a packet generator tool (Mausezahn) and I can send udp packets with 600k pps to one of the firewall's interfaces. In pfsense the packets go out on another physical interface. If I disable pf, all the packets go trough pfsense, 600k pps on the incoming interface and 600 k pps on the outgoing. But if the pf is enabled there seems to be a "limit", because the outgoing pps doesn't go above 300k. I'd like to ask if you have any information about tuning pf to a bigger throughput, or do you have any experience about high pps? Thank you in advance!
