My question would be why are you opening and closing your vpn tunnel. The other
thing you might consider is just doing a cron job to restart the service.

Subject: [pfSense] Remote Syslog Problem

Hi,

We multiple locations with pfSense installed and we collect logs to a remotely
hosted log server.

To keep it secure, we have created OpenVPN tunnel between our log server and
each of the pfSense box.

The problem is, syslogd starts before OpenVPN tunnel is up and doesn't get
reloaded once a tunnel is created. On DSL links, this is a daily problem where
we have to login to each box and go to "Status->System
Log->Settings" and click on save.

Static IPs are not a problem usually, until the box is rebooted.

Any advise or suggestion to take care of the issue?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,
Nishant
