What if you were to install pfSense in the new environment and save the backup xml file, then compare the old file with the new? Maybe use the linux 'diff' command? The idea of using Virtual box in a production environment seems odd to me. Isn't it more for testing/running an OS on your desktop? Every time I've tried VB, I've never found an option to have guests start automatically when the host boots. Have they added that feature?
