I have a Verizon UML290 and it works well, with one caveat. It's fine
on Windows or Mac, and fine on pfSense and Linux when you have 4G or
LTE signal. On pfSense, a Linux-based Zyxel MWR211 portable router
with the newest firmware, and the latest version of Ubuntu as of about
2 months ago, it'll fail to connect when there is no 4G or LTE signal,
even if you have a strong 3G signal. Apparently you can modify the
card to be 3G-only in some fashion and it'll work at that point. I
haven't tried and haven't looked into it in much depth, it's rare I'm
somewhere where I can't get 4G or LTE, so I just use it on Mac or
Windows when in those situations. Sounds like this will be a fixed
install, so as long as you have 4G or LTE signal at that location, you
should be in good shape.

If you want more flexibility, a Mifi with a wireless card in the
firewall to connect to it and use as a WAN is another option. Easier
to travel with a Mifi if you want to take it on the road with you. I
wouldn't hesitate to recommend the UML290 though.
