Hi,

I am testing Web Server Load Balancing in my lab network which I have setup on
Virtual Box.

My current setup is :

2 PFSense Firewalls In Failover Mode Using CARP

PF1 — 192.168.50.251/24
PF2 — 192.168.50.252/24
CARP — 192.168.50.253/24

I have 2 VM’s running Ubuntu with Apache installed on them with default
configurations:

VM1 — 192.168.50.1/24
VM2 — 192.168.50.2/24

I have setup Load Balancing for the 2 apache servers the following way:

Pool —

Name – Apache
Mode — LoadBalance
Servers — 192.168.50.1 192.168.50.2
Port — 80
Monitor — Apache_Test

Virtual Server —

Name — Apache_VS
Protocol — TCP
IP Address — 192.168.50.3
Port — 80
Pool — Apache
FailBack Pool — None

Monitor —
Name — Apache_Test
Type — HTTP
Host — 192.168.50.3
HTTP Code — 200 OK

Firewall Rule —

Interface LAN Allow any to any

I can hit the default apache page on port 80 for both VM1 and VM2, from either
VM1 or VM2. But cannot hit the webpage on the Load Balances Virtual Server from
either VM1 or VM2.

The web configurator is responding on port 443 for both Firewalls
Both VM’s Promiscuous Mode Network setting on Virtual Box are Allow All.

Am I missing something?
