Sorry, none of the systems I have access to reference the nics by mac, I'd expect that to be done by the operating systems facilities anyway. What did work was simply renaming the equivalent nic names and their usage in other references with the corresponding new names. So I had a pair of bge's for example but now I have an fxp0 and bce0. s/bge0/fxp0/g s/bge1/bce0/g The swap mangled config.xml for this edited copy of the original and reboot. I am just curious to confirm if aside from the OS specific parameters that would no longer be applicable, is this reliable?
