I'm actually coming from a different OS, Mikrotik, but found it a little wanting... I decided to "try" PfSense to see how well it worked, and, well, other than the slight (and I mean slight) lack of scripting, hence the Original question, I'm happy. Maybe its something that could be added in the future, maybe its something that could be done as an API... maybe I need to pull the XML, modify it and push it back to the server... Im not going anywhere for a while... I'm happy with PfSense. There are a few things I miss about Mikrotik (virtualization support built in, scripting tools) but others I do not miss (no 64 bit builds, so no more than 2Gb of ram, everything on multiple wan stuff needing to be custom scripted... It took me 2 weeks to setup 3 WAN connections on Mikrotik, took me 20 min on PfSense!). Again, happy and not going anywhere, just asking questions... --Tiernan -----Original Message----- From: List [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Chris Bagnall Sent: Sunday 22 February 2015 11:15 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [pfSense] Bulk Editing settings on the PFSense dashboard On 22/2/15 8:02 am, Ryan Coleman wrote: > If the OP thinks this is not acceptable he probably will need to find a new > platform - the CLI won’t let him do what he wants to. Just as an aside, you can actually restore from *parts of* a backup without a reboot, as I discovered when updating a 1.2 config for a 2.2 install last week (there were so many differences in hardware between the platforms I didn't want to do a full restore, but I did want to preserve all the NAT rules and DHCP static mappings). If you only specify a single section to restore on the 'Backup/Restore' tab - and assuming that section is something fairly innocuous, you don't need to reboot.
