That seems pretty clear to me that the fix to the driver is only in the HEAD branch, and could theoretically be merged back to 10.x branch by copying the diffs from commit 261790. So what you need to do is try booting the bleeding edge HEAD branch of the kernel and if it detects the second NIC you say so on that bug report, and it will give more incentive for the devs to merge the patch back to 10.x line.
