Very easily, I would say.  And very stable once setup.

I use "OpenVPN Connect" iOS App (just search "openvpn" in iOS AppStore, should 
be the first choice or close to). There may be others, I merely use that one 
and it fits my needs.

On pfSense, do not forget to first install the package "OpenVPN Client Export 
Utility" and use it to package the config file you will need on the iOS device. 
You will then have a new tab "Client Export" within the OpenVPN menu. Most 
settings it not all should be OK by default (for a first try at least). On the 
lower right of the screen click on the tiny link "OpenVPN Connect" and you will 
get a proper file for your device.

You will have to either move the exported config file through iTunes/USB or 
send it to yourself by email (much less secure of course), in order to import 
it in the App and then use it.
