Thanks all,

Chris that was it,  thanks again.  User error or as I like to say,  a layer
8 issue.       I made a firewall admin group after configuring the AD
servers,  did a mass select of available permissions and added it to the
group.   One of them is a "deny write silently"...   whoops...
