5 Amps is 60 Watts at 12v. The SG2220's idle power consumption is a mere 6W, which is just half-an-amp. 3.333A, is very easily able to keep up.

The 5A on the HW spec at Netgate is likely referring to the arbitrary maximum amperage that the *included* PSU is capable of. That does not specify the amount the board will draw. A power supply must only meet or exceed Amperage draw of the powered device. Commonly PS's are often over-specified based on convenience/cost and availability.

If you use your Leviton PS, and for some reason it's unable to keep up with the SG's peak amperage, it is not going to hurt the SG. The worst case scenario is that the voltage at the PS's will sag/decrease, and the router will be unstable. The same thing sometimes happens as power supplies begin to go bad and no longer are able to produce the requested amperage.

I suspect that the max draw on that board is WELL under 3 amps. I'd be very surprised if it draws 1A under load.

You can almost certainly use it without a second thought.

The page you linked to says that the SG-2220 needs 5A, but you say the
Leviton power supply is 4A. That's probably a bad idea. In fact, according
to the spec sheet though, the Leviton power supply is actually only
3.33333A. That's almost definitely a bad idea.

Hello,
I have a Leviton Power supply (12v, ~4 Amps) [1] and trying to use it with
SG-2220 running pfSense. Will the ampere rating be enough. I could not
get a good read on the same based on the spec sheets for SG-2220. But,
wanted to confirm.
