In System/Update/Update Settings I think you can choose a 2.3 branch...? I haven't had any issues with installing the upgrade, but in two cases after the GUI updated the repository for 2.4 it wouldn't proceed with the upgrade, and I had to connect via SSH and run the update at the console/shell, where it installed fine.
