Fellows and Fellow Travelers:
Reminder -- special meeting of seminar this Wednesday, July 11, with
students of the University of Minnesota's Mellon program. Professor
Rachel Schurman (Sociology, University of Minnesota) and I will be
leading a discussion of "Resistance and Social Movements." Readings are
my article, "Neoliberalism: Context for a New Workers' Struggle;"
Professor Schurman's "Forging a Global Anti-Biotech Movement;" and
Patrick Bond, "Volatile Capitalism and Global Poverty." I have emailed
you a set of questions to consider in preparation for class discussion.
Emphasis on DISCUSSION. We will meet at 9:30am in the Old Main parking
lot. We need one car in addition to mine (Amber? Adam? - please let me
know). We will return to campus by 12:30pm.
On Thursday evening, July 12, there are two events which ought to
interest you, both of them free. I am not available to take you, but ...
1) "Color Theory for the 21st Century: Beyond the Pure" -- Jae Ran Kim,
Korean adoptee, poet and essayist, and Bobby Wilson, Native American
spoken word artist and poet. Patrick's Cabaret, 3010 Minnehaha Avenue,
Mpls (right off Lake Street -- 21A bus)
2) "Teen Poetry Slam: Quest for the Voice 2007" -- curated by Sha Cage,
local teen poets -- Walker Art Center, 7pm

Try to go to one of these... I have group events planned for next W
night, July 18 (staged reading of Carlyle Brown's in-process play about
Langston Hughes and the McCarthy hearings), and Th night, July 19
(puppet performances by NYC-based Great Small Works company, the most
innovative puppetry artists at work in the US today). Please keep those
nights free.

   See you W morning!

Love and Solidarity,
Peter
