Fellows and Fellow Travelers: This coming W evening, October 3, there will be a "conversation" about Ralph Ellison between two terrific scholars who have just published intellectual biographies of him, John Wright (English and African American Studies, U of Minnesota) and Arnold Rampersad (English, Stanford). Rampersad (who has also published critically acclaimed bio's of Langston Hughes and Jackie Robinson) and Wright have expressed some very interesting differences in their analyses of Ellison, which should generate a most stimulating "conversation." It will take place in the Givens Collection rooms at the U of Minnesota's Anderson Library (near the law school) at 7:30PM. I propose that we make this a MMUF outing. We can discuss travel details in W's seminar. I will also try to forward you some additional materials. Love and Solidarity, Peter
