The block around pick secret-words is preventing the instructions in the
block (i.e. pick ...) from being executed altogether. Look:

>> secret-words: ["secret" "words"]
== ["secret" "words"]
>> pick secret-words 1
== "secret"
>> [pick secret-words 1]
== [pick secret-words 1]

The second version (blocked) simply returned the block with the
instructions, it did not execute them.
