Sounds like you're simply not using Vers 2.2 (or beta).  Do the following to
check:

rebol/version

? replace

----
snip
>with the following results....whats up?
>>> numbers: [1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9]replace numbers [4 5 6] ["four" "five" "six"]
>** Script Error: replace has no value.
