Hi all.

My 2c:

In the case of a programming language,
which purportedly achieves a high
level of expressibility and ease of
use to accomplish real work, along
with the benefits of cross-platform
compatibility and powerful capacity
to communicate among and across
networked systems ....

well, I think you want a pretty dedicated,
consistent architect's vision and attention,
along with the right key supporting technical
cast, to give the language it's best opportunity.
I don't think everything should be open source
*just* because there are examples of open source
approach successes.

I think REBOL Tech should create a product
that delivers superior value, execute its plan
to generate interest in its product, be compensated
for the effort, and stay close in the loop to incorporate
user feedback in enhancing the language.  I think
many would argue that that's exactly what's been
happening (except the compensation part ...)

I'm sure there are many things to be considered
in establishing a price structure --- but won't
REBOL Tech be pretty highly motivated to
give its products their best opportunity ?
They seem like a pretty motivated bunch to me.

I don't think a range of REBOL-based products would
evolve very well if they were released as open source,
at least not this early in the game.

Down the road, anything is possible.

What do you think ?

Mike M.
