Macs have never had true multitasking. It is promised for OS X but
probably all of the "old" Mac will be one task.

The Mac was originally designed to be a little home computer with a
limited range of programs. Its OS is now badly overstretched. I expect
the Palm Pilot might have problems too if you tried to scale it up to be
a professional workstation.
