In response to a direct inquiry, I have at least been assured by REBOL
Tech that using multiple references to the same series is considered
good REBOL practice. 

Personally, I very much agree that a paper on the theory behind REBOL's
design would be both interesting and helpful. 

Perhaps we should pay Carl back with a "me too" petition for some
advanced documentation.
