Is it just me or is anyone else confused trying to keep up to speed
with the horde of Rebol Products available, announced or in development.

To clarify things in my mind this is my understanding of the current
situation;

REBOL-ANNOUNCED: make object! [

/CORE: "The core messaging language & interpreter, multi-platform
availability, built-in internet functionality, powerful dialecting & natural
language capabilities."

/VIEW: "Graphical Compositing System includes Rebol/Core, for truly cross
platform GUI applications & visual interfaces, currently available beta 4.1
for Windows & Linux"

/COMMAND: "For platform specific operations including shell applications,
database connectivity, application launching, dynamic library loading,
encrypt / decryption, currently available in beta ( subject to approval )"

/APACHE: "Server module for server-side scripting, cgi, http pre-processing
etc, currently available in beta ( subject to approval )"

/AUTHOR: "Powerful Development tool for rapid building of Rebol
Applications,
presumably similar in concept to M$ Visual Studio & is based on /VIEW &
/COMMAND"

/SERVE: "Rebol Application Server with multi-tasking / multi-threading
capabilities to serve Rebol "smart-content" & Rebol enabled e-commerce &
internet applications, presumably is based on /COMMAND and is similar in
concept to the Python based ZOPE application server ?"

/LINK: "Rebol Smart Client - presumably a /VIEW based client application
with smart features like automatic upgrading, data synchronization etc which
occurs invisibly to the user ?"

]

REBOL-UNCERTAINTIES: make object! [

/MEDIA: " For multi-media applications including modules for audio & video,
/VIEW may
be stage one of this product or maybe /MEDIA has been renamed /VIEW and
multimedia may or may not be developed some time in future?"

/DRAW: " Mentioned intermittently on Rebol & Ally lists, perhaps confused
with /VIEW or perhaps for artwork & graphical applications as /VIEW doesn't
appear to have any "canvas" like functionality for drawing or graph-like
tasks"

]

Anyone care to elaborate further ?

thanks,

Mark Dickson
