I personally would prefer REBOL charging for
services/commercial use rather than the technology. I wouldn't want to see
rebol's (programming language) future determined my marketers (who might limit
or influence module design, features, etc...) rather than the programmers and
engineers who use the language...
At the same time, I would like to see the company
profit so more development/resources can go into REBOL. Here are my
suggestions:
- Make rebol core/command/view/apache etc... free
for non-commerical use (no-support)
- charge licensing fee for commercial or for-profit
use. Add support services for this fee.
- charge service based fees for developing custom
dialacts for companies that need it.
This way, there is no marketing reason to
stifle/limit/bloat... the technology...
