I am sad to report that George Anderson Payne, the father of Trip and Harris Payne, died Wednesday in an automobile accident. Trip and Harris live with their mother, Maura Payne, at 535 Spring Farm Court. Mr. Payne's obituary follows. The Saddlebrook Homeowners Association will make a memorial gift. Please keep the Payne family in your thoughts and prayers. George Anderson Payne, 42, of 3925 Valley Court, Winston-Salem died November 8, 2000, in an automobile accident. He was born September 10, 1958, in Henderson, N.C. George attended the Woodbury Forest School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a member of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. In his working career, he was a stockbroker. George is survived by his two sons, George Anderson (Trip) Payne, Jr. and Harris Ryan Payne; their mother, Maura T. Payne; his mother, Margaret R. Long all of Winston-Salem; his father, William D. Payne of Fernandina Beach, Fla., and two brothers, William David Payne III and wife, Stacy, of Hillsborough, N.C. and Bennett R. Payne of Raleigh. George is also survived by his great-aunt Margaret H. Young of Winston-Salem; his uncle Edwin F. Payne and wife, Claire, of Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.; his niece Sophia Grace Payne; nephew, William David Payne IV; and cousins, Robert Graham White III and wife, Barbara, of Shaker Heights, Ohio and George Rose White and wife, Mary Kendall, of Richmond, Va. Funeral services will be held by George's cousin, the Rev. Lawrence R. Harris at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 11, 2000 at Holy Innocents Episcopal Church, Henderson, N.C. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
