from TB-303 resources mailing list -------[ http://www.tb-303.org ] ---------------------- hi,
Its great ... you can use it for basslines, acid lines and sweet sounding analogue noises of most any sort. Especially good for trance, acid trance, psy-trance and acid techno imho. I make mainly those three styles of music but not as well as some of the other people on this list! I've had it about a year now and its signed on the back by hardfloor - wooo :) They are not the easiest synth to program - although its not that hard but you can't change the data whilst its playing so it can take a long time to get a pattern sounding "right". Its not midi and you even need a converter to get it to synch in time with other midi gear. You can store 64 patterns but can only choose between 32 whilst playing without a stop, switch shift and a start. You can transpose patterns on the fly. You cannot save the "voice" settings only the note data so you need to draw the knob positions down if you want to replicate a nice noise you made later ... Its monophonic so it can only play one note at a time - i.e. no chords If you're used to midi gear with a nice midi sequencer controlling everything you'll find yourself in a whole new world. Tell me what gear do you already have and i'll try and advise a little onto how it might/might no fit in... its amazing how much other varied gear which can do a lot more than one monophonic synth line (however good) for the same price! Personally if I lost mine and had more money to spend I'd consider a Future Retro 777 if looking for a monophonic analog synth or a Waldorf Q if looking for the uber-synth high polyphony monster synth! Andy S p.s. if you want to hear mine in action go to www.oneroute.com and download the track "Zulu Nation" from the collaborations part of the site and check it out the 303 as it comes in on 4:17 personally this is my favourite style of 303 use these days - nice lines in trance tunes rather than completely dominant acid lines (tho there good too). The filter gets gradually and fairly subtly tweaked on it as the tune progresses from there :))) There are slightly more coarse uses in the other tracks ;) DumDee.mp3 although a complete crap has lots of roland analogue gear :) ----Original Message Follows---- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Shawn) Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [TB-303.org] more emails. What kind of music do you do with it? What makes it so interesting? How long have you had it? Thanx. I just want someone to talk about it cause I want one. I wanna hear about it first. -Shawn aka Silent p.s. Everybody else, do the same. Just talk about it. It won't hurt you.
