Listen to The Prodigy's early work for example, most of the drums are done on W-30's. He made his first demo-tape using only two W-30's (+ mixer + fx).

The filter is something you could hear from a sample though (normal + filtered versions of a given sound for example), but unfortunately I don't have a decent soundcard on my pc to sample it...  I am in the process of buying one though, so if you have a couple of weeks patience, I'll be glad to send you a couple...
