Ok, I finally went to an actual music store (Sam Ash
right here near Nashville TN) and actually played with
some synths, etc. that they had setup. They had quite
a bit of devices setup (the Nord Lead III, the Korg
MS2000 - do I got that right ... Novation BassStation,
more...)
So I played with them for awhile.
SH-101, MC-202, TB-303, these machines are all
related, correct?
I own a 202. I have used the 202 a lot, I love it.
And I'm starting to think this is the world's perfect
sythesizer, save for lack of a noise waveform and a
highpass VCF. I'm even starting to think the 202 is
better than the 303 (if ONLY THE FUCKING 202 DID
PATTERNS! )
Maybe some of you have used the Nord Lead III. What
is the big deal - the $1800+ price tag to me seems a
ripoff especially when the 202 does the same thing (I
paid $350 for mine) AND sequences itself as well.
I though the Korg MS2000 was awesome though (cause of
the inputs), but I still wouldn't trade my 202 for it.
The SH-101, the same thing INCLUDING a noise waveform
and a keyboard (AND a self-contained sequencer?), am I
right? I must say this is fast becoming my new dream
synth.
I'm getting the same sounds I hear out of a lot of
303-based songs also out of my 202. Not as easily
given the sequencing sturcture of the 202, but the
same nonetheless.
