[TB-303.org] Chord wheel

Does anyone know what the original intended purpose of the Chord-shift Wheel was ?   My 303 came with one, and most everyone seems to agree this little shift scale is pretty much useless with the 303.   Though I am curious what Roland's original intent of it was.  What sort of situation would one even use it ?? (I am guessing it has to do with playing real instruments with the 303??).  For those of you who may play chords on your synths with the 303, is there any use to this Chord Wheel what so ever ??   Maybe  I should go back any study music theory again.......?
