El prximo da 17 en la Universidad Autnoma de Madrid, ngel Puerta de la Universidad de Stanford, dar una interesante charla.
Os adjuntamos la informacin que nos han remitido desde la AIPO del evento, Un saludo. ------------------- Fecha: Miercoles 17 septiembre 2003 Hora: 16:30h Lugar: Sala de grados de la Escuela Politecnica Superior Titulo: XML as Lingua Franca for User Interfaces Por: Angel R. Puerta, RedWhale Software & Stanford University Abstract -------- The user interface has long been the poor cousin of the software industry. Whereas significant advances in infrastructure and functionality have been made for databases, operating systems, networking, and application software, the engineering of the user interface at the software level continues to move at a snail's pace. One major reason for this is that we simply do not understand well the process of designing and operating a user interface. Another one is that we lack an efficient representation mechanism for user interfaces. There is now hope, however, that we can overcome these challenges via the marriage of two technologies: model-based interface development and XML. From the first one, we take an engineering method to organize and relate all relevant elements of a user interface. From the second one, we obtain an efficient method to represent and interoperate with user interface data. In this talk, I will introduce the various efforts worldwide that aim to represent the user interface using XML. In particular, I will focus on the XIML schema for which our organization has been spearheading development in the last two years via the XIML Forum (www.ximl.org). Although most XML-based representation efforts are still in the definition stages (meaning little working software has been created yet), I will examine and exemplify, where possible, the potential areas of impact for this technology, especially multi-device display and context-aware intelligent interfaces. The talk will conclude with a roadmap for the technology. About the speaker ----------------- Dr. Angel Puerta is the president and CEO of RedWhale Software. RedWhale aims to develop a comprehensive software infrastructure for user interfaces that enables intelligent design-time and run-time management of the user interface. Previous to RedWhale, he was a research professor at Stanford University for nine years. At Stanford, Dr. Puerta was principal investigator for various DARPA projects in the area of model-based and intelligent user interfaces. Dr. Puerta has over 100 hundred publications in the areas of human-computer interaction, artificial intelligence, and software engineering. Since 1997, he has been chair of the steering committee for the ACM International Conference on Intelligent User Interfaces. -- Pablo Castells Escuela Politecnica Superior Universidad Autonoma de Madrid Ctra. de Colmenar Viejo km. 15 28049 Madrid, Spain Tel: +34-91-3482284 Fax: +34-91-3482235 _______________________________________________ altas, bajas y modificaciones: http://cadius.org/mailman/listinfo/lista_cadius.org
