CONFERENCE: ICE-B, International Conference on e-Business, http://www.ice-b.org/index.html AREA: Business and social applications SPECIAL SESSION: "MODELLING THE ICT IMPACT ON PRIVATE LIFE" This special session aims to present works and new ideas to draw some conclusions on how ICT can have influence on the social, working and specifically on private life. It is not a never heard subject, nonetheless recently, because of the convergent world, the new ICT solutions have faded the existing distinctions among fixed/mobile/broadcast services, and the problem have been so (re)introduced. Whether from one side it´s predictable that the networks integration and services convergence could provide new marvellous scenarios of use for the private life (and working/mobile life as well), from the other side it is likewise subsequent that other factors may influence the end users, e.g. the problem of managing complex environments, or analogous others, and determine the real final success of failure by depending on the feeling they receive with respect the own idea of quality of life. The special session is a very small event to be held during the conference as a set of oral presentations highly specialized in some particular theme or consisting of the works of some particular international project. It wishes to provide a forum to explore mutual interests, research avenues, and ways to more easily share knowledge and working methods. Activities will include presentations and/or demonstrations on the following topics: Acceptance of ICT in integrated networks Participation through stakeholder analysis ICT impact on private and work life Information systems design and risk assessment Innovation diffusion models for private environments Combining socio-technical concepts and usability engineering Conditions for technology acceptance in private life Contexts of private use with integrated multimedia tools Criteria for acceptance through users´ involvement Operational measurement of control and enhancements factors Prediction of user acceptance of new integrated networks services Simulation technique to analyse ICT impact Socio-technical perspectives in ICT design User response models for private ICT environments Potential participants should submit a paper, or a short paper, describing a work recently completed or in progress. Demonstrations are also highly encouraged.
