AREA: Business and social applications
SPECIAL SESSION: "MODELLING THE ICT IMPACT ON PRIVATE LIFE"

This special session aims to present works and new ideas to draw some

conclusions on how ICT can have influence on the social, working and
specifically on private life. It is not a never heard subject,
nonetheless recently, because of the convergent world, the new ICT
solutions have faded the existing distinctions among
fixed/mobile/broadcast services, and the problem have been so
(re)introduced. Whether from one side it´s predictable that the
networks integration and services convergence could provide new
marvellous scenarios of use for the private life (and working/mobile
life as well), from the other side it is likewise subsequent that
other factors may influence the end users, e.g. the problem of
managing complex environments, or analogous others, and determine the

real final success of failure by depending on the feeling they
receive with respect the own idea of quality of life.

The special session is a very small event to be held during the
conference as a set of oral presentations highly specialized in some
particular theme or consisting of the works of some particular
international project. It wishes to provide a forum to explore mutual

interests, research avenues, and ways to more easily share knowledge
and working methods. Activities will include presentations and/or
demonstrations on the following topics:
Acceptance of ICT in integrated networks
Participation through stakeholder analysis
ICT impact on private and work life
Information systems design and risk assessment
Innovation diffusion models for private environments
Combining socio-technical concepts and usability engineering
Conditions for technology acceptance in private life
Contexts of private use with integrated multimedia tools
Criteria for acceptance through users´ involvement
Operational measurement of control and enhancements factors
Prediction of user acceptance of new integrated networks services
Simulation technique to analyse ICT impact
Socio-technical perspectives in ICT design
User response models for private ICT environments
Potential participants should submit a paper, or a short paper,
describing a work recently completed or in progress. Demonstrations
are also highly encouraged.
