Saludos, Belén Symbian UI Patterns Working Group Many of you know me as Scott Weiss, outspoken mobile usability evangelist. I am writing today from my role as Symbian UI Technology Manager. I look after the Symbian user experience, and I can use your help. Symbian is now an open source mobile operating system that is managed by the Symbian Foundation, and built by the Symbian community. We work together to drive the user interface forward through collaboration and continuous evolution. The Symbian operating system can be found on 300 million mobile phones world-wide. I am embarking on a new project to develop UI patterns for Symbian^3, the release that will be feature complete by the beginning of 2010. I am establishing a working group to design the information architecture and the pattern template, as well as to get the patterns filled out. If you would like to participate in this working group, please send me a private email at the address below. Participation will include monthly two-hour meetings and a minimum commitment of two hours per week during the working period. Meetings will be hosted in London at Symbian Foundation's offices, but will also be available by teleconference and Webex for remote participants. The goals of this working group, in short: - Design the pattern library's information architecture - Design the pattern template - Implement patterns for S^3 Participation is voluntary. Working group members will be recognised on the Symbian UI Patterns home page, and will enjoy the satisfaction of having helped improve the world's most popular smartphone operating system.
