Old phones with WAP 1 need to be specially coded as they don't use HTML.
Unless you have a lot of customers using old phones I wouldn't bother
supporting WAP 1.
But new phones with WAP 2 can be accommodated with a subset of XHTML. In
theory this needs XHTML Basic or XHTMl MP, but in practice the phones seem
to support a bit more of XHTML 1 Strict.
With a couple of stylesheets you can have your web site adapt for a phone.
