Not sure how you figured out what I was after, after reading my own cryptic email I would not have made sense out of it ;-)
Yes, I think default out of the available is best to, I was thinking about the WAIT cursor, because when hovering over the null item we are really waiting for them to make a selection. Although that one did not feel right....

For what it’s worth, I always use the “default” cursor (arrow) on my nav hrefs that are nulled (“#”) on a landing page. IMO it’s much better indication that the hover is not clickable.
