That's not how HTML mail works. Just let the mail clients handle encoding the messages properly, you never need to manually include workarounds like that.

I read from other list that it's one of the net etiquette to always do so whenever you include markup in your post, so that people who read in html mode can read the markup. Even so, I always forgot to do this.
