Thanks for the tip. I have used the Satay method before, but I think I will try the UFO (http://www.bobbyvandersluis.com/ufo/) method this time. The problem with <param name="wmode" value="transparent"> is that it needs to have some values in the <embed> tag for it to work on all major browsers. Since I won't use the embed method I'm back at square one.

here: http://alistapart.com/articles/flashsatay/. It's a
standards-compliant method for using Flash in your pages.
