I understand the limitations of alpha transparency and 24 bit png, but
is it safe to use 8bit png in place of gif files?
which browsers won't display an 8bit png (no transparency, just for the
smaller file size)?
a definitive table would be great...
I've searched, but info is either old or confusingly written.
