I'm still seeing only a very small percentage of users with IE 7, but even after its released, my campus CS department has the auto updates for things like IE disabled, so I don't think that our lab computers will be upgrading when everyone else does, and i don't think we are unique in that. So be prepared that there will be a bunch of legacy computers out there running old versions for a while.
