Print has its own standards, and while CSS has some capabilities for
it, PDF is an accepted standard that works well.

Sure, but I for one hate waiting for Adobe Reader to do its thing and
I'd be willing to bet I'm not alone.

I'm working on a project at the moment where we have a print friendly
stylesheet for people that just go file->print, *and* a print friendly
design for people who are expecting to see how it'll turn out. It's
hopefully going to be a nice tradeoff.
