Hello listen users and developers, Over the past couple of weeks there have been a lot of major changes with the listen repository at plone.org. This email is intended to summarize the complete state of affairs with the listen project.
The openplans-refactor2 branch of listen has been merged into the trunk. This "new" version of listen introduces three list types that define a complex set of behaviors and replace the "moderated" and "closed" list properties. Moderation and membership administrative interfaces and other improvements have also been added and are outlined in the specification document: http://www.openplans.org/projects/listen/glossary-of-listen-terms-and-concepts This merge creates a major jump for listen and those wishing to take advantage of this new listen must run a migration script to convert "old" listen lists to new ones. It is in this file: http://dev.plone.org/collective/browser/listen/trunk/migrations.py You can execute it by navigating to the view migrate_listen_mailing_lists in your portal root. Before this merge happened, a 0.3a1 release tag was cut. If you're using listen, and you've been following the trunk, and you DON'T want to deal with the migration issues around upgrading to the most recent code just yet, then you should switch to using the 0.3a1 tag. Even though there has been a 0.3a1 release, there is not at this time any plan to do further work on v0.3; there will probably never be a 0.3 final. All new listen development is happening on the trunk, and the first official final release will be in the future, probably version 0.5 or something. For those who start using the new listen on the trunk, please send comments, suggestions, and bug reports to us and stay tuned for future improvements and releases.
