gv: well let's go slowly here. The content
is of the past, accumulated experiences, 
and information and impressions. If the 
psyche is only of the past, only content, 
then its operation is just mechanical.
Which means there is no energy that is
free, no awareness that is choiceless.

But although the human psyche may
be dominated by the past, there is 
some energy and awareness that is
not tied to the past. If there is no 
such awareness, then there is no 
freedom in observation. Surely 
genuine understanding comes out
of clear perception unbiased by
past impressions.

gv: What is fully understood is not a matter of 
deliberation because it is already what is occurring.
 
 hj:  No. What is understood is what is 
eliminated as content.

gv: not all content is confusion. We need 
knowledge to function and communicate.
We use knowledge to speak and read 
and write and type, etc. Where there is
confusion, identity is established in the
known, in part of the content. Where
there is an understanding of that false
split in consciousness, knowledge and
thought are in their rightful place. 

There is room for what is not of the past
to operate because there thought is not
interfereing with perception. ====

gv: This is an undeniable fact anyone can
validate. What is occurring with one may
or may not be occurring with another.
There is no pretense in that.

hj:  The pretense is in making claims. 
Who makes claims doesn't  understand.

gv: the assertion that he who says 
he knows, knows not, is pretentious. 
It obviously implies that the speaker 
knows. Likewise to say that one
who claims to understand does not
understand, contradicts itself as it
clearly implies the speaker in fact
thinks he or she understands.
