Hello!

I'm trying to set up Bincimap with SSL on Server-optimized Linux
(www.sol-linux.com). I'm using Bincimap 1.1.2 with OpenSSL 0.9.7a. I
can't get SSL to work with my IMAP client.

If I try directly connecting with openssl s_client (think telnet
localhost 143), I can log in fine, and examining INBOX produces the expected results.

If I try to use an IMAP client (Apple Mail, comes with Mac OS X, uses
IMAP with SSL), it eventually fails to connect and the following
message appears in syslog:

Jun 14 12:02:24 ceviche xinetd[216]: START: imaps pid=2515 from=my.ip
Jun 14 12:03:25 ceviche bincimap[2515]: SSL negotiation failed: SSL
error: authentication failed: error:00000000:lib(0):func(0):reason(0)__

I have verify peer OFF. SSL works fine as far as sending and receiving
data - at least openssl s_client doesn't complain. Then again, my certificate chain is suspect - I just made my own CA rather than pay a couple hundred (!!!) to VeriSign/Thawte/others

Everything works perfectly *without* SSL.

Is it a problem with my certificate? If so, how do I make certificates from a local (non-root (non-expensive)) CA?

Thanks much,
