RedHat 9 requires a patched checkpassword, and patched DjB software can
not be distributed in binary format from what I recall from the license.

Here's the location of the src.rpm, which is distributed. It can be
rebuilt using "rpmbuild --rebuild <package>". If you can't compile then
you're out of luck. The binary packages available are not patched with the 
glibc 2.3 errno/res fix.
