Office 365 you can get from an MSDN, with few limitations like no Outlook I
thinh. But Intune you have to email to get longer eval, think max is still 90
days.

Does anyone have Intune or Office 365 E3 (or similar) in a home lab? Just
wondering if there's anything available beyond the 30 day trials they offer for
each. Do you just bite the bullet and pay for a single user?

Daniel.

Intune is cloud based OS/device management service. It can run in one of two
mode: stand-alone and hybrid (aka integrated with ConfigMgr).

In stand-alone, it can manage all of the common devices and OSes including iOS,
Android, Windows for Mobile, Windows Phone, Max OS X, and Windows of course.
All directly from the cloud.

In hybrid, it effectively becomes an extension of ConfigMgr so that ConfigMgr
can manage iOS, Windows for Mobile, Windows Phone, and Android in addition to
ConfigMg's native management of Mac OS X, Linux, and Windows.

The subscription enables either of these modes for the number of users that you
license - Intune licensing is per user, not device.

You do *not* need a public certificate for Intune. Intune does use certificates
internally, but you don't have to do anything about or for these and they do
not involve a public CA.

You do need a certificate for the following things though (none of which have
anything to do Intune itself):

- Manage iOS devices. This certificate is free, issued directly from
Apple, and takes all of 1 minute to get from them.

- Create iOS applications, universal or modern Windows applications.
These are developer code signing certs issues by a public CA although for
universal apps it is possible to use your own CA provided that the Windows
devices trust it.

Can someone explain to me why I need intune subscriptions?

Is this to connect non domain devices (Tablets, phones, laptops, thirdparty
appliances, etc..) to System Center?
Will I need a cert from GoDaddy or equivalent to go with the subscriptions?

Thanks
